Jung Kook is back on the Hot 100 this week—though he never actually left. This week, he claims a pair of spots on the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., which is a fairly rare sight among solo artists from South Korea.
This week, Jung Kook debuts his new single “3D” with Jack Harlow at No. 5. As he claims another new win on the tally, he moves up on the ranking of the K-pop acts with the most hits on the list.
“3D” marks Jung Kook’s fourth solo Hot 100 hit and his second of 2023. With four placements on the chart to his credit, the global superstar matches three of his BTS bandmates for the fifth-most appearances of all time on the competitive ranking.
Jung Kook is now on the same level as his BTS friends J-Hope, Jimin and Suga. All four acts have placed four solo hits onto the Hot 100 throughout the past several years, though they have done so in different ways.
Looking at all acts, BTS is in charge, as the septet has appeared on the Hot 100 with 26 different tracks. Another K-pop group, Blackpink, is in second place, having accumulated nine hits on the Hot 100. Just one win ahead of Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, and Jung Kook is Psy, who has snagged five placements on the list so far.
Jung Kook is quickly catching up not only with his BTS bandmates but also other major players in the music industry who hail from South Korea. The star has scored all four of his hits on the Hot 100 in only the past year or so, and he’s not done yet. He is on track to advance further very soon, with another new single coming this month. In November, Jung Kook will drop his debut solo album Golden, which may produce more Hot 100-charting cuts as well.
