Nicki Minaj is having a real moment as she gears up to host and perform at next week’s MTV VMAs, where she’s also nominated for multiple awards.
Minaj, 40, first hosted the annual awards show last year and will return for the gig at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday.
The “Barbie World” singer is also nominated for Artist of the Year. Her hit “Super Freaky Girl” earned nods for Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop, and Best Visual Effects, while her track “Love in the Way” (alongside Yung Bleu) is nominated for Best R&B.
Also slated to perform are Shakira and Diddy, who will be honored with the Video Vanguard Award and Global Icon Award, respectively.
This year’s ceremony is also notable for marking nominee Lil Wayne’s first VMAs performance since 2012, as well as the VMA performance debut of K-pop superstars Stray Kids.
Other performers at this year’s ceremony include Anitta, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Fall Out Boy, Future, Kelsea Ballerini, Måneskin, Olivia Rodrigo, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER.
Taylor Swift is topping this year’s nominees, as the “Anti-Hero” superstar, 33, is up for eight awards. SZA is up for six while Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Minaj, Rodrigo and Sam Smith are competing in five categories each.
