Noblezada will play an affluent young socialite and Gatsby’s lover, Daisy Buchanan. She debuted on Broadway as Kim in a revival of “Miss Saigon” and was nominated for the Best Actress award in the 2017 Tony Awards.
Noblezada was again nominated in the same category in 2019 after playing Eurydice, the female lead, in “Hadestown.” “Hadestown” soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in 2019.
“The Great Gatsby” is based on the 1925 novel of the same title by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald, which follows the story of a man named Gatsby who strives to achieve the American Dream.
The musical is written by Kait Kerrigan and directed by Marc Bruni. The musical’s score by Jason Howland is a mixture of 1920s jazz music with modern-day pop.
It is set to make its off-Broadway premiere on Oct. 12 and run through Nov. 12 at Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.
OD Company aims to carry the show over to Broadway by sometime next year.
