What’s scarier than dangerous swarms of robots in the future? The answer is: tiny swarms of robots. In the latest episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks, a diminutive AI threat has been brought back into the fold, though these particular tiny robots may not be top of mind for every single Trek fan. Continuing its five-season tradition of super-deep cuts from the Trek Universe, “The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel” brings back the nanites in a big (small?) way. But this reappearance of the nanites is actually a bigger callback to a moment in which Star Trek: The Next Generation shifted gears forever. Here’s why the…
The rapper took to social media to make the announcement along with a trailer. In the trailer, a reporter ponders the death of Eminem’s alter-ego, Slim Shady and launches into an investigation. “Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the blonde anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” he says. The camera cuts to an interview with 50 Cent, who says: “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath.” The reporter adds: “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of…
Liam Gallagher won’t be performing any songs by Oasis or The Stone Roses when he hits the road with John Squire. The former Oasis singer has teamed with The Stone Roses guitarist to record a self-titled joint album – featuring the singles Just Another Rainbow’ and ‘Mars to Liverpool’ – and they will be taking their new music on the road for a series of intimate shows in the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, and America – but Liam has insisted they won’t be playing any of their old material because it would feel “naff”. Speaking to Radio X host…
Nicki Minaj has dismissed rumours her latest track titled Big Foot is a “diss track” at rival Megan Thee Stallion. Releasing in just a matter of hours, the new tune was thought to be taking aim at the artist amid the pair’s long-standing spat. Nicki had already played a part of the track during an Instagram Live video on Friday, seemingly making subtle digs at Megan. In the song’s lyrics it says, “Bad b***h, she like 6 foot, I call her big foot / The b***h fell off I said get up on your good foot.” Fans thought this was making reference to rapper Tory Lanez…
Lance Bass and Joey Fatone could say bye, bye, bye to some of NSYNC’s less successful songs. The former boy banders recently revealed that certain tracks from their discography make them wince — and they’re all from their eponymous debut album, released in May 1997: “Riddle,” “Here We Go,” and “I Need Love.” “Those ones were a little err… the rest we love,” Bass told PEOPLE at the Bilt Rewards’ 2023 Winter Holiday House Party in New York on Tuesday. “It wasn’t our style. We weren’t a techno group.” Added Fatone, “It was basically the dance music that was in Europe at the time. We tried…
Netflix released its first report detailing which shows people are binging — and which ones they aren’t — on Tuesday. The streaming giant announced its plans to publish “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report” with data on over 18,000 titles twice a year. The first report covers the content viewed between January and June 2023. “Over the last 16 years of streaming one constant has been people asking for more viewership data,” Netflix co-Chief Executive Officer Ted Sarandos said, according to Bloomberg. Movies and shows on the platform have been viewed for more than 100 billion hours in total. Top…
World-renowned artists Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez attended a Gaza fundraising event hosted at Ramy Youssef’s comedy club in Brooklyn. According to the Jerusalem Post, the performance, held at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, was a stop on Youssef’s ‘More Feelings’ tour. On his Instagram page, the Egyptian-American Emmy-nominated actor revealed that all the proceeds generated from the comedy show would be fully contributed to the American Near East Refugee Aid (Anera) to aid in relief efforts for Gaza. Anera was established in the aftermath of the 1967 Six Day War to meet the humanitarian needs of Palestinian refugees. It is a non-governmental…
A father pushes his sons to extremes in Sean Durkin’s film about the Von Erich wrestling dynasty, starring Zac Efron. It’s full of tragedy – but is ‘disappointing’. It’s tricky when filmmakers finally realise their passion project, the one they’ve hoped to make for years. The Iron Claw, about a family of wrestlers whose lives are so tragic they feel cursed, is that project for Sean Durkin. In interviews he has said that ever since he was a boy in the UK, a wrestling fan, he has been fascinated by the five Von Erichs, brothers in Texas who were at the top…
