Park Seo-joon marked his Hollywood debut with Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest release ‘The Marvels’. He essays the role of Prince Yan in the film.
While the film is scheduled for release on November 10, buzzabout Park So-joon’s screen time has made it to the internet. The ‘Itaewon Class’ actor reportedly has limited screen time, which has not gone down well with his fans.
Koreaboo reported that a Marvel YouTuber has counted Park Seo-joon’s screen time and it is just “two minutes and 47 seconds, (margin of error in five seconds)”.
Internet users explressed displeasure against this claim, Koreaboo listed comments like, “They put him on the main poster but he is given screen time fitting for an extra”, “I thought he was one of the lead characters. I can’t believe his screen time is less than the time it takes to cook cup noodles… Not going to watch” and “This puts a bad taste in my mouth. It just pisses me off how they are treating the Asian character.”
Previously, during a recent virtual press conference, director Nia DaCosta had confirmed that Park Seo-joon had a small role in the superhero drama and said, “He appears wearing a cool costume, but I can’t provide many details. ‘The Marvels’ is a film that reflects on Captain Marvel’s past. She meets people from her past, and one of them is Prince Yan. Although his appearance is brief, he plays an important role as a character with a short yet impactful presence.” Buzz is that Park Seo-joon’s onscreen character apparently marries Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and they have a mysterious history. Previously, fans had also expressed displeasure over his look in the movie, wherien he sported a winged headgear.
