The cameras are rolling for Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) latest adventure as ‘Captain America: New World Order’. Production on the fourth Captain America picture, which will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Five, has begun, according to ScreenRant.
The film, which is set to be released on May 3 of next year, will also star Tim Blake Nelson and Danny Ramirez, as well as Harrison Ford, who is joining the franchise as General Thaddeus Ross after William Hurt passed away last year. After proving to the world that he is more than worthy of carrying the shield, it is time for Sam to confront his first major obstacle.
Plot
Plot information is still awaited, however given the number of returning characters, it should be safe to assume that the film will follow the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The limited Disney+ series began with Wilson feeling the pressure of carrying the shield after Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) entrusted it to him following the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. When the Flag Smashers start harming the populace, the world needs Captain America to save them, and Sam realized he had everything he needed all along. It also helped that he wasn’t alone.
Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) was there to support Wilson on his path to identify the type of hero he will be in the future. Bucky and Sam formed a great friendship after meeting in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, transitioning from bitter taunting to honest companionship.
Although John Walker (Wyatt Russell) tarnished the shield over the course of the series, he was no match for the titular team, who stopped him and the Flag Smashers from potentially harming thousands of people. But the storyline always made it apparent that the main focus was Sam moving beyond what he did as the Falcon, with him developing the confidence to face adversaries bravely as the new Captain America.
